15mm Printed Rhino

I found a model of a Rhino tank online. I had to cut it into 3 pieces for printing and it came out suprisingly well. I'm now working on a Leman Russ.

How to test the 3D printer? I thought I'd try something that I was pretty sure would not work.

15mm Space Marines. This was not easy at all. but on the bright side they are small so I could make a lot of attempts in a shortish time. One takes about 6 minutes to print at 0.05mm layer height. Here are some failures:

and here's where I'm at now:

not bad, not great - definitely potential. I'm using a 0.35mm nozzle at the moment so I'll try and get a 0.2mm and see if I can do better. There's some other tweaking I need to do to the printer as well. Next: Tanks.

Building the Printbot JR Part 1

All was going well until I needed a tiny allen key. I know I have one somewhere but I can't find it. Building aborted until I buy one tomorrow hopefully. About 1/3 way through building so far.

Time for Action!

I decided it's time I actually used this blog for something, so I will use it to document my 3D printing. Step 1: build the printer...
